Hello! Miss T writing here! I am a humungous fan of books – a passion I love to share and try to instil in the children that I teach. In my classroom, we have a whole area dedicated to reading (filled with the masses of books I pick up from boot fairs, charity shops and bookshops.) We have pictures of favourite scenes inspired by texts on display, we ‘recommend reads’ in registration, we have book clubs and I encourage people to lend their brilliant books to others.
On recommendation from a lady I met in a bookshop who has a child of the same age that I teach, I have set up this blog to publish my recommendations so that children in my class can access a backlog of reflections of books that I have read. If anyone else wants a read – feel free!
You have definitely made me read a lot more. In year 5 I hardly ever read and now I read every day. 😊 Ella x

Hey Corey! I’ve only read the first 3. If you’ve read more, which one would you recommend I read? I’ve got many books on my bedside table, including some classics like Paddinton and the Wind in the Willows, but I’m sure I can make room for some Beast Quest!
What sort of chart did you have in mind? A ‘what is your favourite beast quest book?’
Merry Christmas!

Hi there!
Wanted to know how you did the Matilda theme flying pages out of the book. Hope to hear from you soon so I can get it up in time for the first day of school. Thanks!

I just got an old book which was in disrepair, then ripped out a load of the pages. I then folded the pages once at different angles and used blue tac to stick the flat part of the paper to the wall, leaving the flapped over part away from the wall. This gives it the appearance of it flapping in the wind. I found putting them up the wall and onto the ceiling most effective and eye catching. Really chuffed that you’re putting it in your classroom – I’d love to see your version. It didn’t take me long and really is a wow factor in a classroom that can be left up for a long time.
I guess you could use another theme, it doesn’t have to be Matilda? Maybe they could spiral and be like Alice going down the rabbit hole? Or the the pages could be a choppy sea, with famous characters/boats riding on it? Maybe Moby Dick, the Hispaniola from Treasure Island, Captain Hook’s pirate ship etc. They all represent books taking you places I guess ☺️

Also, when I stuck them down, I didn’t stick them flat to the wall, but kind of arched the paper to make it more 3D. Once you start playing around with it, it makes sense ☺️
